Hailing from Moldova, Alexandra Conunova is one of the most internationally sought-after violin virtuosos of her generation, having won 1st Prize at the 2012 Joseph Joachim Violin Competition and 3rd Prize at the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition. Her absolute technical prowess as well as “impressive range of colour” (The Strad) will be on full display in her Hong Kong début with Hong Kong Sinfonietta under the baton of the orchestra’s Music Director Christoph Poppen, as she performs Saint-Saëns’ enthralling Violin Concerto No 3 in B minor. Franck’s luminous Symphony in D minor, as well as the Hong Kong première of legendary Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina’s Fairytale Poem, will complete a fine evening of musical inspiration.
